Vaginal dryness
vaginal dryness
General description

The vagina is a hollow muscular tube lined with mucous membranes, the site of the intimate physical contact, and is always characterised by a certain degree of moisture, when the organ is in an ideal state to carry out its function. Like are our mouth, nose, airways and other mucous-lined orifices. The moisture is made up of the mucus of the cervix and the substance produced by the mucous cells covering its surface, also fluids secreted by the G-gland, the Bartholin glands, and the fluid that filters through the vagina blood circulation. It is influenced by the menstrual cycle, the current hormonal and emotional state. If the physiological function of the cells and the circulation of the surrounding tissues are disturbed, reduced or inhibited, the production or drainage of the lubricating secretions is obstructed, as their functioning is impaired and the supply of nutrients and oxygen is also compromised. Fright, prolonged stress, chronic anxiety, fear, bad experiences in intimacy, etc., affect the tension in the muscles, impairing the function of the veins, arteries, capillaries, lymphatic vessels, nerves.

Symptoms, causes

In the case of vaginal dryness, the vagina produces less secretions and epithelium of the vagina becomes sensitive, causing irritation, and the sensation of burning and tightness. The symptoms are more intense during sexual activity but may persist independently. In the case of prolonged vaginal dryness, the normal bacterial flora of the vagina is disrupted, the number of lactic acid-producing bacteria are reduced. Vaginitis can develop, urinary symptoms, cystitis, blood in the urine may also occur.  In many cases, the doctor does not find a physical or hormonal cause, but even if he does, it is very helpful to look at psychological background too. Relationship problems, anger, distrust, self-esteem issues, a taboo in sexuality, sometimes trauma in the past, sexual abuse, etc. may be behind the symptom. These can often make the woman not desire sexual intercourse at all. Good to know that the our soul still has an effect on our body, even if we are not honest with ourselves, and try to convince the body to do something that neither our body nor our are soul wants to do.

This is not always consciously acknowledged. The symptom that draws the attention to it, like the red light on the dashboard, indicates that something is wrong, let's look for the cause, what caused it to light up. Our endocrine system responds quickly to stress and anxiety. Estrogen hormone levels can drop significantly during periods of stress, which can lead to vaginal dryness. For this reason, we can alleviate the pain of penetration with the use of lubricating gel, even if there is a psychological reason behind it, but this does not relaxes the muscles of the pelvic floor, nor does it relieve the underlying cause, or reduce the anxiety. Therefore sexual intercourse is unlikely to be blissful and enjoyable. So the best thing to do alongside using creams and gels, is to start working on the problem in psychological level to resolve it. The human body is not a mechanical machine.

The effects of emotions and experiences of them, have very serious physical consequences. Think about it, if we are frightened by something or someone! Fright, fear, negative emotions are associated with the production of stress hormones that promote the effectiveness of escape, and the possibility of survival. Therefore work against feelings like being free, relaxed, at ease, immersed, and experience of pleasure. This is particularly true in the context of sexuality: stress or sex! Therefore, it is a mistake not to examine what is going on currently or what has happened in the past in the woman life regarding intimacy. We have a real chance to untangle the process if we understand the background, and also pay attention to it.

Treatment

It follows from the above, that it is very important to look at the factors that co-exist with the onset of symptoms and, if it is possible, change them. How are we feeling about our sexuality, our general and current approach to it, the knowledge of our own nature, our erotic particularities accepting and experiencing them, a deeper understanding of how our body function, the quality of our relationship, etc., all have an impact on how well the body functions. Since for many women this is a source of stress, it may be useful to dig deeper, to get to the roots, and consider seeking  professional help from a psychologist.

Keeping the genitalia in good condition, having adequate blood circulation in the organs, ideal oxygen and nutrient supply to the cells is also an excellent treatment for other inflammation caused by infections. According to the experience of the professionals, Kriston Intimate Training is a unique way of serving this purpose with a series of specific exercises that affects the organs in the pelvis, the glands, the muscles of the pelvic floor, the circulation, the vagina immune response. There is no guaranteed medical cure. Symptomatic treatment can alleviate symptoms, but if we are unable to recognise what is happening under the tip of the iceberg, recurrences may occur.
